Vietnamese with a Twist: White Taro

Last weekend’s choice of place to brunch was a no-brainer, I have to say. This place has become the talk of the town, not only because it was recently opened, but also for the delicious food they serve, at least that’s what people on the instagram said. But, believe me, they are absolutely right on this one. White Taro definitely made it to the top 5 of my favourite brunch places.

White Taro is a cafe that serves Vietnamese fusion dishes. It’s an all white building (‘White’ taro, that’s why they probably painted it white), located in the corner of Albion St and Belmore St, just a few numbers away from Reuben Hills. The place itself is not that big, probably can only hold around 20 people inside. They also have some seats in front, at the back, and on the right side of the building, as you can see from the photo above.

Ice Chocolate - $8
Ice Chocolate – $8

My friend started with an ice chocolate which, I think you all will agree, looks super inviting. It is not too sweet and you can taste a hint of bitterness of the chocolate. I would recommend this ice chocolate for you chocolate lovers.

Cheers! hehe
Cheers! (those are not the property of White Taro btw lol)

Chook in Broth w/ Egg Noodles, Mushrooms, and Egg – $15

I normally won’t go with a soup/broth unless I’m in a ramen restaurant, as most soups tend to be bland. But I decided to try this as it was quite chilly outside. As I tasted the broth, I was gobsmacked, as it is packed with tons of flavour! There’s enough spice on the chicken, and it is cooked well.

Viet Skewer Chicken on Brioche w/ green mango, papaya, herbs, grain & seeds and fries & aioli – $18

My friend had the famous vietnamese dish, which is, the chicken skewer, with a twist. They make it into a burger, with green mango and papaya as the salad to substitute the lettuce, tomatoes and pickles. The chicken, again, is spiced and cooked well. The brioche is very soft and pillowy. And the green mango and papaya salad is so fresh, it cuts the richness of the dish.

It has easily became one of my favourite cafes in Sydney, for the experience I had and flavour on the dishes are close to perfect. They are also very generous with the portion of the dishes. I would strongly recommend this cafe!

By the way, did you guys notice my new watermark? Personally, I super love it! Special thanks to my friend, Stela Kristina, who designed it for me. She created a simple watermark design, yet it still conveys a dynamic, chic, and fun image, of which suits my personality. How thoughtful of her!
